2024 saw my second trip across the pond for Scottish Golf Tourism Week. My week started with a Familiarization Trip centered around the Edinburgh and East Lothian areas. Our rag-tag group of tour operators started the FAM with a night at the Schloss Roxburghe Resort. Our first full day took us to Longniddry Golf Club and Royal Musselburgh Golf Club before a site visit and lunch at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh. We then had a tasting at the Scotch Whiskey Society before settling in for the night at the Intercontinental – The George. What an unbelievable dinner we were treated to at The George! Our second full day started with a visit to Duddingston Golf Club before visiting the Gilmerton House which is a fantastic exclusive-use property in East Lothian. After lunch there, we visited three properties near EDI Airport….Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, Norton House Hotel, and Dakota Hotels Scotland. We then stayed at the Scotsman Hotel in downtown Edinburgh for our last evening together before heading to Inverness in the morning.
Scottish Golf Tourism Week 2024
The official event for 2024 started with a round of golf at the amazing Castle Stuart Course at Cabot Highlands. We then made it back to the host hotel for 2024, the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness. After a completely full first day of appointments with golf courses, hotels, and other vendors, I chose to go off into downtown Inverness for a little exploration. After another full morning of appointments on Day 2, some in the group boarded a shuttle to go play 9 holes at Fortrose & Rosemarkie before getting ready for the Gala Dinner. What a cool venue chosen to host the dinner! The Culloden Battlefield Visitors Centre was the host for this year’s dinner, and it was superb!
