Portstewart Golf Club

Portstewart Golf Club is located on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Known for having one of the most spectacular front 9 holes in all of golf, Portstewart hosted the 2017 Irish Open. I was simply blown away by the start of the course. When you arrive, you don’t get a view of the first tee or the opening holes. You are at the clubhouse and you turn one way to use the driving range. When you cross to the other side of the building for the start of your round, the first tee box is elevated. This is one of the best “reveals” I have ever seen. When I stepped up to the first tee box my jaw hit the turf. The picture that is painted into your brain…with Hole 1, then mounds, the water right…it was breathtaking. I have a hard time coming up with 2 better starting holes in all of golf. From there I had a smile on my face until the final putt dropped on 18, just a wonderful day!! After our round we headed down the street for our final lunch together at the famous Harry’s Shack restaurant.
