ST ANDREWS GOLF
There are plenty of challenges to overcome when selecting the courses to include in your group’s personal “rota”. What are the “must-plays”? Is it worth making a day trip? What are the best hidden gems? This page does NOT show all the golf courses in the area, not by any stretch. But these are the 20 or so golf courses that you should be considering when staying in and around the St Andrews area.

The Old Course at St Andrews
If you have been directed to this page, odds are you have already heard my opinions on the mistakes that some groups make when planning their trips to Scotland. If not, let me give you the highlights. In my opinion there are 2 main errors that groups make in Scotland. One: They try to play the entire country in one trip. And Two: They plan their entire trip around acquiring a guaranteed tee time on the most famous course in the world: The Old Course. My suggestions are simple: Focus your entire trip in the immediate St Andrews area, and DO NOT focus on a guaranteed tee time on the Old Course. What I have come to learn over the years is the cost and effort involved to secure those foursomes or eightsomes on the Old Course is simply not worth it. Build an open day into your trip where those who are interested can try to obtain a ballot time or just get up early to wait in line for the open spots that are there EVERY DAY on the Old Course. Skeptical? Give me 15 minutes of your time to explain my reasoning! Jason Kauflin, Owner of Wisconsin Golf Trips
