The Irish Course @ Whistling Straits
The Irish Course is one of the most underrated courses around. It’s big brother, The Straits Course, gets most of the press, but The Irish Course is #43 on the Golf Digest Top 100 Public Courses list. I love what Pete Dye does on the Irish Course. He lures you in with a front nine that is shorter, mostly downwind, and relatively benign. Then Dye turns you uphill and into the prevailing wind as you make the turn. The back nine of the Irish Course might be my favorite nine holes in Wisconsin. Your group will walk away in love with this golf course. Sure you don’t get the scenic views of Lake Michigan, but the course itself is still a Pete Dye masterpiece! Enjoy my personal photos from The Irish Course below.
